Compelling Stories

Get them at hello – developing a strong story idea part 3

This time we conclude our exploration of what kind of stories appeal to reporters. The news business is all about presenting compelling ideas – so it’s important to get this right.

Media like an idea that:

· Involves serious consequences

· Involves horror, pathos, danger, threat or conflict

· Has a personal face – you can show how it affects a person or a family

· Provides useful, helpful info – tips, techniques

· Has good photographic possibilities.

Does your bookkeeping service provide work-at-home opportunities for mums so they are around more for their kids? Can what you do be explained in a feature photo you could set up?

Working with the media can be rewarding and great for business. Next time we’ll look at more ways to make this happen.
