What Blogging Platform Should I Use?

There are several blogging platforms available. Google’s Blogger and free WordPress.com accounts are recommended for personal blogs only. Although they are very easy to use, you’ll soon need the added features of a more sophisticated blog platform. The top two blogging platforms for business blogs are:

· Hosted WordPress.

o WordPress is the most versatile and flexible platform out there, and therefore it’s the most popular choice for most business bloggers. The software is free, but you’ll need to host it somewhere. If you have a hosting company for your website, the WordPress site should be included in your monthly hosting fee. You’ll have to hire someone to install the software and configure the site. You should expect to pay about $250 for a complete installation package, which includes training and support, assistance finding a theme and plug-in installation (to control spam and to add features such as polls, SEO optimization and an events calendar)

· TypePad

o TypePad is a hosted service from Six Apart which charges US$14.95 per month. There’s no installation and it’s also very easy to use. It lacks the versatility of WordPress, but it is easier to learn.
