How to Survive 2013

Athlete Running Through Finish LineI don’t think most of us expected the recession of 2008 would still be rippling in 2013. The purchasing habits of people have changed dramatically since the beginning of 2000.

For many of us, the 2008 economic downturn was a wakeup call. Businesses have had to look into how to become more efficient at all levels, including better systems, lower operating costs and superior customer service. Keeping their existing fans buying and telling others about their business is key. Starting each customer right out of the gate with the best customer experience is mandatory. In fact, customers now expect it.

It is time to look at your organization with a holistic approach. When paring back on operating expenses, it is important to find ways to continue to invest in visibility and service for your business. When the market becomes strong again, you don’t want to have to be scrambling madly to gain ground at that point. You want to be proactive now for two reasons: first, to remain visible to prospective customers, and second, to ensure that your existing customers know you are still here.

I’d love to hear what you are doing to maintain a presence in the market place.
