Rewarding Myself

Niagara Falls Lift Strategies BookA week before the Easter long weekend, I was in Niagara Falls promoting my new book Lift Strategies: Quick Tips to Engage Customers and Elevate Profits at the Canadian Franchise Association Convention.

I had never been to Niagara Falls before so I was very excited about the location of the convention. I had the option to upgrade my hotel room for an extra $50 a night to a room that faced the falls. Initially, I felt the price for one person was way too high considering all the other costs involved in taking this work trip. Then, I thought, life is for living. It’s hard to know how much downtime I will get on this trip. At that point, I called the hotel and changed my booking to a hotel room that faced the falls.

Although I had an opportunity to walk along the falls three times during my four-night stay at the hotel, there were a few days where I didn’t have time to leave the building. Being able to go to my room at the end of the night when I was really tired and watch the falls was a wonderful experience. In the evenings the falls were lit up with lights that changed colours throughout the evening as soon as the sun went down. I was grateful to be witness to such a spectacular view without having to leave my hotel room.

Rewarding oneself may or may not involve a financial investment like the experience I just described. What have you done lately to give something special to yourself that brought you joy?
