What’s In Your Tank?

Have you ever heard of a chili tank? Steven Forester founded the Chili Tank in 2009. His dad found a 1943 military soup kitchen and had it shipped to Canada. The chili tank originally came from the Czechoslovakian army and was refurbished in Germany and sold to Steven’s dad.

With this soup kitchen, Steven provides amazing tasting chili at events and farmers’ markets all over Greater Vancouver. I’ve had a bowl of his veggie chili and it is delicious. They provide both soups and chili using as much local and organic produce as possible in their recipes.

The WW2-era soup kitchen is fueled by green fire logs. These logs are made of 80% used coffee grounds. Talk about innovation.
